Prerequisite: Intro to Defensive Handgun unless prior instruction is demonstrated and approved. Handgun Performance Foundations builds on live-fire fundamentals and introduces structured holster work, controlled movement, and multi-target engagements. Students will work on: • Safe holster draw progression (inert → unloaded → live fire) • Controlled multiple target engagements • Introduction to basic lateral movement • Shot timer integration for performance tracking • Reload refinement • Malfunction management under increasing tempo Holster work is introduced progressively to ensure safety and mechanical consistency before live-fire integration. Equipment & Clothing Requirements Holster-based instruction requires appropriate equipment for safety. Students should bring: • Handgun (if available) • Quality IWB or OWB holster • Minimum three magazines • At least one magazine pouch with belt attachment (double pouch recommended) • Proper range attire: sturdy belt, pants with functional belt loops capable of supporting a holster, and stable footwear (no drawstring garments or gym shorts) If safe and suitable holster equipment is not available, instructor-provided equipment — including firearm, holster, and accessories — will be required. Use of instructor firearms requires DCTT-issued ammunition in accordance with company policy. Students must notify the instructor in advance if they are left-handed to ensure proper rental equipment configuration.
