Firearm Safety & Handling Foundations
Start your firearms training the right way.
Service Description
This classroom-based session establishes the foundation for safe and responsible firearm ownership. Instruction takes place in a private instructional space on my property in Snohomish, WA — not at the Sultan range location. The purpose of this session is to build mechanical competence, legal awareness, and safe handling habits before transitioning to live-fire training. Students are encouraged to bring their own unloaded firearm to Session #1. This class focuses on safe handling, operation, and basic maintenance — not live fire. Working with your personal firearm allows you to become familiar with its controls, function, and safe manipulation under direct supervision. Instructor-provided equipment is available if needed. Students will learn: • The universal rules of firearm safety and their real-world application • Proper handling, loading, unloading, and administrative manipulation • Washington State and applicable federal firearm laws • Defensive mindset and responsible use-of-force considerations • Differences between training and defensive ammunition • Overview of common firearm platforms and calibers • Safe storage and transport considerations • Basic firearm maintenance and field stripping This session serves as the foundational prerequisite for all live-fire pipeline courses. Students with prior formal instruction may request instructor review for placement approval.
