Service Description

This classroom-based session establishes the foundation for safe and responsible firearm ownership. Instruction takes place in a private instructional space on my property in Snohomish, WA — not at the Sultan range location listed later in this packet. The goal of this session is to build confidence, competence, and clarity before transitioning to live-fire training. Students will learn: • The universal rules of firearm safety and how they apply in real-world environments • Proper handling, loading, unloading, and administrative manipulation of handguns • Washington State and applicable federal firearm laws • Defensive mindset and responsible use-of-force considerations • Differences between training ammunition and defensive ammunition • Overview of common calibers (handgun, rifle, and shotgun) and their intended use • Safe storage practices and transport considerations • Basic handgun maintenance and field stripping This session emphasizes hands-on familiarity under direct supervision. Students will handle multiple firearm platforms in a controlled environment to build mechanical understanding and safe manipulation habits. In addition to handgun-specific instruction, students will receive a structured overview of rifle and shotgun platforms to better understand how each fits within the broader firearms training pipeline. By the end of this session, students will have a clear understanding of safe firearm ownership and will be fully prepared to transition into structured live-fire instruction. *Please note, this class serves as a prerequisite for any future course and is highly recommended for new and novice shooters.
