Private Handgun Development Program

Service Description

Note: Typically completed in 4–8 weeks with flexible scheduling. The Private Handgun Development Program is a structured four-session training progression designed to take beginner students from foundational firearm safety to confident, responsible defensive application. No prior experience or firearm ownership is required. All firearms, ammunition, training aids, and equipment are provided by DC Training & Tactics and are included in the course cost. This allows students to begin training immediately without needing to purchase gear beforehand. By the end of the program, students will have the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to confidently select and purchase their own firearm if they choose. As a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL), DC Training & Tactics can also assist students in selecting and acquiring an appropriate firearm based on their training experience. Each live-fire session builds deliberately on the previous lesson, reinforcing safe gun handling, efficient mechanics, and consistent defensive accuracy. Students develop core skills including grip, recoil control, presentation, reloads, and decision-making through guided range training and structured dry-fire development. To accelerate skill development between range sessions, students are issued a state-of-the-art laser training pistol along with supporting dry-fire tools including a holster, magazine pouch, dry-fire targets, and additional training aids. These tools allow students to safely practice core mechanics at home between sessions and build consistency more quickly than range training alone. Students are expected to perform short dry-fire practice sessions between live-fire lessons in order to get the most out of the program. The program is designed to be completed over approximately 4–8 weeks, allowing enough time for consistent practice while maintaining skill progression. In addition to live-fire instruction, the program includes a dedicated legal training session covering Washington State firearm laws, concealed carry requirements, safe storage practices, transportation guidelines, and responsible firearm ownership. Students also receive direct instructor access between sessions for questions, clarification, and training guidance to ensure steady progress throughout the program. This program gives new firearm owners the skills, confidence, and foundation required for responsible firearm ownership, defensive readiness, and continued skill development.
